Caring for your Natural Hair Under the Magic Braided Lace Front Wig w/Baby Hair Box Braid MLB21
Hello Ladies! Let's spend some time chatting about natural hair. Some of you may know that I have changed from perm to natural hair for the past ten months and now I just recently removed the permed ends as of May this year.
You may be wondering what has it been like thus far, right? The truth is I can’t say just yet because I have been wearing protective styles such as wigs, weaves and braids as I try to gain some added length.
The purpose of my writing this article is to share some tips and tricks on how I care for my hair while it is under a braid, weave or wig. These tips can be applied to both natural as well as relaxed hair. Please note that before using these tips you should reduce the amount of heat that is applied to the hair generally. If you have natural hair use weaves that keep all your hair tucked away. You can also braid your hair and tuck it under Magic Braided Lace Front Wig w/Baby Hair Box Braid MLB21. Below are some tips
- If you have on a wig you can wash your hair without removing the braids. Wearing a wig weekly and then removing the braids underneath so as to wash your hair on the weekend totally counters the purpose of a protective style. True protective styling means that you leave your natural hair untouched for a couple of weeks. Keep your hair underneath your wig washed and braided and apply condition and moisturisers as usual.
- Keep your hair moisturized on a daily basis. Keeping the moisturiser content of your hair is equally is equally important when wearing a protective styling in the same way when ones hair is loose. You can also use a light oil to example coconut oil once per week to seal in moisture. Do this once weekly so as to prevent stinky braids and buildup. This can be used for weaves, wigs and braids.
- Wash your weave once monthly or if possible every two weeks. Pay special attention to your scalp without messing with the actual weave as you do not want to cause tangling. If you have relaxed on natural hair I must say that it is absolutely necessary that you give your hair time to dry before going to bed. The reason for this is wet hair for extended periods of time increase the likelihood of getting a fungal scalp infection which stunts hair growth and defeat the purpose of the protective styling in the first place.
Well, that's it! Wigs are excellent for protective styles, and they will grow the hair once you do it correctly. They also allow you to make changes your looks and color without having to cut or bleach.
